Not a dating app

People ask if this is Tinder for friends. It is not. Dating apps are built for a different goal, and the gamification reflects it: rankings, endless swiping, who is hottest.

Table42 scores nobody. There is no leaderboard, no attractiveness rating, no popularity number. What you get is a deck of ten people from your own city, inside the age range you set: four who share interests with you, three who are close by, three picked at random. In the first group, more shared interests come first. In the second, closer comes first. That is the whole of it.

Gender plays no part in any of that. There are exactly two filters, an age band and a maximum distance, and neither is gender. Same-gender meetups are as ordinary here as any other. Friendship has no gender rules.
