Real-life friendship · Utrecht first

Someone new.
A little more
to your day.

Meet someone who shares an interest, over coffee, lunch or an activity. Table42 turns a first hello into a plan you can actually make.

For adults 18+. Create an account; we review it personally.

Two people enjoying a conversation over iced coffee beside a café window.
One shared interest. One place. One time.

Why Table42 exists

Friendship deserves
some space in
ordinary life.

Tim started Table42 because of what he kept seeing on the news and on social media: people lonelier and less connected, more of us online and less of life spent offline.

He wanted to make the step from wanting company to actually meeting someone easier. Where do we go? When are we both free? What will we talk about?

Table42 begins with those everyday questions. A shared interest gives you somewhere to start. An invitation gives you a place and a time. What grows from there is up to the two of you.

A place for you

You don’t need
to be a certain
kind of person.

You just need to be open to meeting one.

Four familiar places to start.
Read at your own pace.

What a meetup looks like

01 / 04

A small first step
is still a first step.

If meeting someone new feels like a lot, start with a coffee. One person, a public place and a time you’ve both agreed to. You don’t have to walk into a room full of strangers.

Start simplyA coffee. An afternoon.

02 / 04

Some time for you,
between everything else.

When you’re a parent, a free hour can take some arranging. Meeting another parent over coffee can fit into the day you already have. Suggest a time that works around the things you can’t move.

Make a little roomParent meets parent.

03 / 04

Start with the thing
you could talk about for hours.

Films, chess, climbing, baking bread badly. Your interests help you find someone with a bit of common ground. You already have a first question before you’ve said hello.

Find common ground“Have you tried it?”

04 / 04

If saying hello comes
easily, there’s room for you too.

You might already have a full social life and still enjoy getting to know someone new. Bring that curiosity. Every meetup needs another person who says yes and turns up.

Bring your curiosityOne more conversation.

From hello to actually meeting

A real plan.
Room to be yourself.

Once you’re accepted and your city is open, this is how a shared interest becomes time together.

Two people talking across a small café table, with coffee and something to eat.
A place to sit. Something to talk about.
  1. 01

    Find a little common ground.

Look through people’s profiles and interests. When someone catches your curiosity, send an invitation for coffee, lunch, a bite or an activity.

  2. 02

    Make the plan together.

Suggest up to two listed places and three time slots. The other person chooses what works. You’ll know where you’re going, when, and who you’re meeting.

  3. 03

Say hello. Take it from there.

At the venue, you each scan its check-in code. Need a conversation starter? Choose an icebreaker together and ask it out loud.

A little clarity helps.

Meetups take place at listed public venues, during the day or early evening. Food, drinks and any activity costs are paid separately. An agreed meetup isn’t a table reservation.

Getting started

Your first step
can be right here.

Create your account now. Meeting people comes after acceptance and your city opening.

  1. 01 · Your account

    A few details to begin.

Start with your email, a password and your city. Confirm your email, then tell us about yourself and your interests.

  2. 02 · A personal review

    A person reads your profile.

Tim reviews accounts by hand. Creating one doesn’t guarantee acceptance, and there’s no promised review time.

  3. 03 · Your city

    Good company takes both sides.

We open a city when enough members and venues are ready. You can prepare your account while you wait.

Starting close to home

Utrecht first.

It’s where Tim lives, so a conversation with a venue starts with a bike ride. Nijmegen, Breda, Groningen and Maastricht are next in the plans. No opening dates are promised.

Why we’re starting here

A clear starting point

Your first two meetups
are on us.

Accepted members receive two free meetup tickets. One ticket is one person at one meetup, and tickets don’t expire.

A single meetup ticket is priced at €2. Testing starts without a purchase; tickets aren’t for sale on the website yet.

Before you say hello

A few things
you might
be wondering.

Do I need to be good at meeting new people?

No particular personality is required. You’re meeting one person who has agreed to the same plan. A shared interest and an optional icebreaker give you a starting point; you don’t have to arrive with a great opening line.

Is there an age limit?

Table42 is for adults aged 18 and over. There is no upper age limit. Students, parents, people new to a city and people who have lived there for years are welcome to apply.

Can I start meeting people straight away?

You can create an account now. Your account must be accepted, your profile completed and your city open before you can start meeting people. We’re preparing the first test group with Utrecht first, without a fixed launch date.

What if I feel uncomfortable?

You can decline an invitation, and you can leave a meetup if you feel uncomfortable. Blocking and reporting are available in the product. A personal account review or a venue listing isn’t a guarantee of someone’s identity or your safety.

Can I ask someone a question first?

Yes. Write to Tim at [email protected] You reach the founder directly. There isn’t a support desk or a promised response time.
